Watered - Receiving What You Need
Part 4 in the devotional series on spiritual growth.
1 Corinthians 3:6–7
I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing… but God that giveth the increase.
Growth cannot be forced.
You can plant.
You can water.
But you cannot produce life.
Only God can do that.
Paul reminds the church that while people play a role in spiritual development, the power behind growth belongs entirely to God.
This is both humbling and freeing.
It is humbling because we are not in control.
It is freeing because we are not responsible for producing results.
Many believers become discouraged because they try to manufacture growth.
Trying harder. Doing more. Fixing everything at once.
But growth is not produced by pressure.
It is produced by connection to God.
Your responsibility is faithfulness.
Stay planted.
Stay watered.
Stay consistent.
God gives the increase.
Sometimes growth is slow.
Sometimes it is invisible.
But it is happening.
Seeds do not grow overnight. Roots develop quietly before anything appears above the surface.
Trust the process. Keep watering and trust God to provide the increase. This is true for both yourself and in helping others to grow.
God is working allow stick with it and let Him work, don’t starve our His power by straying because growth at times may seem slo.
