Tested - Growth in Difficult Seasons
Part 6 in the devotional series on spiritual growth.
James 1:2-3
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Growth is tested before it is trusted.
James does not say trials might come.
He says “when.”
Trials are not interruptions to growth.
They are part of it.
“Trying of your faith worketh patience.”
The word patience here means endurance—the ability to remain steady under pressure.
Faith that has never been tested is faith that has never been strengthened.
Trials reveal what is real.
They expose weak areas.
They deepen dependence on God.
They refine character.
No one enjoys difficulty.
But Scripture calls us to “count it all joy.”
Not because the trial itself is pleasant—but because of what it produces.
God uses pressure to build strength.
Just as roots grow deeper during drought, faith grows stronger in difficulty.
If you are in a hard season, it is not wasted.
God can use it to help you grow stronger in Him.
