The widow saw lack.

God saw potential.

Her resources were nearly gone. Her situation felt impossible.

When she asked for help, the prophet did not immediately provide a solution.

He asked a question:

“What hast thou in the house?”

Her answer revealed her perspective.

“Not any thing… save a pot of oil.”

To her, it was insignificant.

To God, it was enough.

This is a consistent pattern in Scripture.

Moses had a staff.
David had a sling.
The disciples had loaves and fish.

God often begins with what we overlook.

We focus on what we lack.

Not enough time.
Not enough ability.
Not enough resources.

But God asks a different question.

What do you already have?

The miracle did not come from something new.

It came from something already present—placed in God’s hands.

What feels insufficient to you may be exactly what God intends to use.
