Fruitful - Evidence of Life

Part 7 in the devotional series on spiritual growth.

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Growth is not measured by activity.

It is measured by fruit.

Paul does not list achievements.
He does not list accomplishments.
He lists character.

Love.
Joy.
Peace.

These are not outward performances. They are inward transformations that become visible over time.

Fruit is the natural result of a healthy connection.

A branch does not strain to produce fruit. It abides—and fruit appears.

That is why Jesus said in John 15:5, “He that abideth in me… bringeth forth much fruit.”

If spiritual growth is real, it will show.

Not instantly.
Not perfectly.
But gradually and genuinely.

This is important because it shifts the focus from trying harder to staying connected.

Many believers become discouraged because they measure growth incorrectly.

They look at how busy they are.
How much they are doing.
How much they are trying.

But Scripture points to something deeper.

Is your love increasing?
Is your patience growing?
Is your response to pressure changing?

Fruit develops over time.

It cannot be rushed—but it can be cultivated.

The Spirit produces it as you remain connected to Christ.

And one of the clearest signs of spiritual maturity is not how much you know—it is how much you are becoming like Him.
